The bed settee is of simple construction and has a caisson containing a static (2) and a mobile ( 4) half bed frame. The two half frames (2, 4) locate horizontally one above the other beneath the seat cushions (8, 9). The lower frame (4) is mobile and is withdrawn and erected in a forward extended position to convert the settee into a bed. The seat cushions (8, 9) are of a twin superimposed inter-hinging leaf form, and the top leaf (9) pivots forward to complete the transformation into a bed. The caisson comprises a back (13), side (12a), and floor (1) panels. It supports the static frame (2) on runners, and houses the mobile frame (4) in a space beneath. The latter frame (4) may, when deployed, be supported by the caisson side walls (12a) and frontal pivoting retractable legs (5).
