Railway auxiliary generator hydraulic drive - has traction motor driven variable speed pump and governed hydrostatic motor drive

The generator is driven hydraulically, with a pump driven by the vehicle traction motor. The fluid under pressure goes to two regulators (7, 13) which feed an hydraulic motor (10) which in turn is coupled to the generator (11). The generator feeds various auxiliaries. The fluid is fed first to a reservoir with a filter and then to the two regulators. En route the liquid under pressure goes into a cooler (14) before returning to the reservoir (5). The hydraulic motor is of hydrostatic piston type. There is a belt drive (2) to the pump, which runs between 600 and 1600 RPM and the motor is governed to 1500 RPM(+-) 3%.
