Method of fabricating ceramic pieces comprises choosing ceramic powders, with nature and granulometry to suit the products, and mixing them dry and coating the grains with a soln. in a non-aq. solvent, pref. volatile, of a polymerisable organic compsn. The moulds are then filled with the compsn. and rapid polymerisation is effected with the aid of a catalytic fluid injected into the mixt. and/or heat. The mouldings produced and extracted and sintered to produce solid ceramic pieces. Used for ceramic insulators esp. aluminous ceramic sparking plugs. The process exhibits reduced dead times, reduced investment in plant, reduced operating costs, maintenance costs and waste.
