The selective union is for a self-service filling station, causing the nozzle of the filling hose to fit the filling spout of the vehicle fuel tank. This thus prevents the wrong type of fuel being used, e.g. diesel fuel being delivered into the tank of a petrol-engined vehicle. It can be arranged to fit onto existing hose nozzles and into existing filling spouts.
