A suspended ceiling is made from interlocking strips on edge, forming a diamond pattern seen from above or below. Each strip has a slot cut into it, for half its depth, to permit one strip to interlock onto another. To give a flexible connection, a cut is made across the inner end of the slit. This gives a T-shaped slit, or alternatively, an L-shaped slit. Instead of a cut at right angles to the slit, a hole may be cut. This can be round or rectangular, and can be offset. Another alternative has a sloping cut. The edges each side of the slot can then be bent back slightly. Alternatively, the whole depth of the strip can be joggled in line with the slit.
