PURPOSE:To join the webs each other rapidly and simply by an apparatus wherein the drawn-out web is pressed on the wound web by the paper pressing roll and the beginning ends of the webs are sticked to each other. CONSTITUTION:When joining a web 61 with a web 91, a paper pressing roll 41 is pressed on a drawn-out portion 611 of the web 61 to pull it. The drawn-out portion is stopped temporally as it descends to the position very near the web 91, while the web 91 is rotated in the counterclockwise direction by a pre-driver 21 in response to drawing-out speed of the web 61. Immediately after the beginning end of the web 91 passes the front of the paper pressing roll 41, the roll 41 is further descended again so as to contact the drawn-out portion 611 of the web 61 with the web 91. By so doing, a joining adhesive tape put on the outer surface of the beginning end of the web 91 is sticked on the drawn-out portion 611 of the web 61, whereby the joining process is completed.
