METHOD AND MEANS FOR SALVAGING AND RECYCLINGTHE LATENT HEAT ENERGY OF EXHAUST STEAMABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA method and means for economically producingboiling hot condensate plus mechanical energy fromexhaust steam whereby energy waste and thermalpollution from power stations is greatly lessened.Herein, a combination engine and hot condenser is inter-posed between the main turbine exhaust port and thevacuum condenser for the purpose of making the steamdo work and thus bringing about condensation at itsboiling point. Since the latent energy of exhaust steamis enthalpic as well as thermic by nature, itsextraction as mechanical energy greatly lessens heatrelease upon condensation. The mechanical work producedby such an engine depends not upon expansion, as in amain turbine, but upon continuous force exerted byvapor pressure operating on one side of a piston having avacuum on the other.
