The method involves receiving the exhaust gas heat of a primary energy process in the exhaust stream by a heat exchanger or a direct evaporator (2). The heat exchanger or the direct evaporator supplies a steam circuit with expansion machine-generator assembly, condenser (4) and operating medium pump (1). The exhaust- or hot gas stream is supplied by an additional heat exchanger (5), which is downstream to the heat exchanger or direct evaporator. The exhaust gas or hot gas stream is withdrawn from further heat. An independent claim is included for a device for thermal and thermo-electric exhaust gas or hot-gas energy recovery with a steam circuit.
