ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREPharmaceutical compositions, containing a4,4'-dihydroxy-3,3'-triphenylmethanedicarboxylic acid(or an oxidised derivative) as active ingredient, aredescribed and are prepared conventionally in a formsuitable for topical administration e.g. ointment. Thecompositions are useful for the treatment of inflammatorydiseases and inflammatory conditions of the skin. Manyof the active ingredients are novel compounds. A representativenovel active ingredient is 4"-cyano-4,4'-dihydroxy-5,5'-dimethyl-3,3'-triphenylmethanedicarboxylic acid.
