The hook body has two mirror-symmetrical jaws defining a through slot for the chain, while their bottom insides provide a space for a transverse chain link. An eyelet, at right angles to the long axis of symmetry, serves for suspension of the hook froma connecting member. The hook is formed from two equal and opposite forced halves (1), welded together along its centre line (2). It thus contains two parallel jaws (5), sepd. by a slot (6), through which one link of the associated chain can hang, while the next link is supported inside the two jaws (5) whose inner surfaces (8) are shaped to fit the link.
