This chair is adjustable between sitting and lying positions. The chair consists of a backrest (20) which is connected a fixed angle of over 90 deg. to the seat (10). The upholstered seat (10) is raised at each side to form arm rests (22). The seat hangs over the front of the chair to run into the support stands (11) whose base is rounded to allow the stands to remain firm at all angles of the chair. In the back of the chair is a depression (15) in which are pivoted a pair of rear legs (16, 17) with rounded bases (25, 26). The legs are connected for stability with a cross pole (24). The rear legs (16, 17) are provided with an adjuster and release mechanism to allow the angle of the chair to be altered to any required position.
