The direction finder system comprises two vertical antenna coils combined together to form a crossed-coil direction finding antenna connected to a goniometer search coil. Each vertical section is connected to a field coil in the goniometer. An azimuth-sensitive, auxiliary vertical aerial and the rotating coils of the goniometer are connected to a comparator which compares the phase of two voltages. The goniometer coils are also connected to an indicator which gives their position w.r.t. a reference direction. The rotating coils are connected to the input of one channel amplifier and the vertical antenna is connected to the other channel amplifier of a twin-channel direct-reading radio direction finder using a c.r.t. as a display unit.
