The appts. for measuring the electric potential of materials in the mouth, used in dentistry, employs two electrodes connected to the measuring circuit. The appts. includes a digital indicator showing the current flowing for a given load, and one or more digital indicators for the flow after elapse of a given period of time. A multiplier processes the readings obtained taking into consideration the time intervals and combines them into a single period of time between 1 and 3 seconds, pref. 1.5 seconds. This is indicated in milli watt seconds or nano watt seconds. The load resistance is 10 kilohms. A switch short circuits the battery for taking a new reading. A digital indicator is used for open circuit conditions.
