The car seat back swings back against damped supports, with the headrest rigidly attached to the top of the seat. An elastic damper (20) is coupled between the top of the seat, or the headrest, and the floor to damp any whiplash effect in a collision. A second damper (21) is set between the seat back and the upright pillar for damping in the opposite direction for complete protection.
