The purpose of the so-called ghost-rider stop is to prevent approach to entires to, and exits from motorways and trunk roads in the wrong direction. Red and green, pref. fluorescent optical units made of plastics, or similar are applied in these areas. They can be rectangular, semi-circular, arrow-shaped or of other shapes, in a variable relative angle setting, and can be attached to existing guide-rails or to newly prepared holders, by adhesion, screwing or plugging. In one direction only green signs are seen, and in the other red.
