Process for mfg. continuous hot-tinned strip i.e. tinplate, using the conventional method of immersion, the novely being that the substrate is continuously fed and continuously treated, the treatment ending by passing the coated strip through a compartment contg. draining rollers using a jet of superheated liq. from tuyeres which supply the liq. at 250 degrees C approx. The pressure in the tuyeres is pref. 0.35 kg/cm2 and the process pref. does not include the passage of the strip through a bath of acid. The tuyeres are pref. placed in an oil-bath and the final hot-tinned coating is pref. 5-30 g/cm2. The process gives precise control of the final coating.
