The device consists of two plates (1) and (3) separated from each other by a distance equal to approx. half the diameter of the capsule. The upper plate (1) has a parallel slot (2) with semi-circular ends, the slot is slightly longer than the capsule and the slot width slightly greater than the diameter of the capsule cap. The lower plate (3) has a slot (4) formed by three intersecting circular holes so that the slot width is reduced at two places to a dimension only slightly greater than the diameter of the body of the capsule. This shape of slot ensures that the capsule must rotate into the upright position with the cap uppermost before dropping through the slot.
