The ventilator fan (32) is driven by a reversible motor (26) controlled by a valve (20, 40, 41) so that it can be run in whichever direction is desired. The motor can be of the hydraulic constant-output type which is supplied via the valve from a compensated -pressure pump. The pump (14) output can be variable, and the valve can be of the four-way, two-position type with a manual control or it can be controlled by a solenoid. There can also be a hydraulic pilot unit for controlling the valve position. The ventilator fan may be combined with a heat exchanger.
