Agents against alcoholism and alcohol intoxication - produced by oxidising allylically unsaturated fatty acid(s) and ester(s) to increase peroxide titre

New agents are obtd. by oxidn. of liq. fatty acids and/or fatty acids esters contg. allylic unsaturated units of formula -CH=CH-CH2-CH=CH- and/or -CH=CH-CH=CH-CH2- for a sufficient time to give a peroxide titre much greater than that of the untreated cpd. Oxidn. is pref. effected by heating in the presence of air or oxygen. Pref. starting materials are animal oils, vegetable oils and fish oils. Used for treatment of alcoholism by controlling or combatting the desire for alcohol and alcohol withdrawal symptoms, treatment of alcohol intoxication, prophylaxis against alcohol intoxication. The agents may be administered orally or by injection.
