Gripper for clamping the selvedges of textile webs passing through a thermofixing chamber where the webs are subjected to flow of hot gaseous media has a yoke formed by a number of upper and lower ribs, the ribs being spaced at such distances as to provide unobstructed flow to the media. Upper ribs are provided with co-axial bores for the pin of the clamping jaw which co-operates with a platen. Ribs are of a cross-section which whilst permitting of transmission of the required clamping forces to the selvedges permit of unhindered flow. Selvedges of thermofixed webs are thus adequately treated. Pref. the platen is provided with spaced apertures which coincide with the spaces between the lower ribs so as not to inhibit the desired gaseous media flow.
