3-thienyl pyrrolidine derivs. - useful as analgesics and antiinflammatories, and thienyl substd. succinimide and succinic anhydride precursors

Thiophene derivs. of formula (I) and their acid addn. salts are new (where R1 and R2 are H, 1-6c akyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aralkyl, opt. substd. in the phenyl ring by =1 halo, 1-3C alkyl or 1-6c alkoxy). Also new are intermediates of formulae (II) and (III). (I) are antimflammatories and analgesics useful in human and veterinary medicine. The cpd. 1,3-dimethyl -3-(2-thienyl)pyrrolidine has intravenous LD50 in mice of 49 mg kg. and oral LD50 250 mg/kg. The usual oral dose is 0.05-1 g/day.
