The pushbutton switch for a telephone receiver comprises a lower contact (3) and an upper contact (2) normally open and secured to a support (4). The upper contact has a central section (27) resting on an insulating lug (35) on the lower contact (3). Pressure on the button (10) bends the free end (22) of the upper contact towards the lower contact (3) against the resilience of the former. Further pressure "snaps over" the central section (27) of the upper contact (2), to provide firm contact with the lower contact (3). Resistance of side sections (26) of the upper contact (2) opens the switch on release of the button (10).
