A vertical adjusting control for the h horizontal brush of a car wash has the brush (6) linked to a cable support which includes a counterweight (11) and a double action pneumatic servo cylinder (1). The servo piston is fitted with control shafts (4, 5) on each side, linked to two sections of the cable support. The cables form a closed support system, with any displacement of the brush providing corresponding displacements of the counterweight and the piston. The two sides of the piston are linked via a servo operated control valves. The brush has a set pressure on the vehicle and climbs up the contour of the vehicle due to the reaction with the surface of the body.
