摘要
The voltage arrester has a gap defined by two electrodes face to face. The gap is filled with an inert gas and closed by a material that reduces the arrester breakdown voltage. This material consists of a halide of sodium, barium, potassium, strontuim, lithium or calcium. The inert gas contains a reducing gas e.g. hydrogen or a mixture containing 5-15%by vol. of hydrogen at 25 deg.C. The halide material is placed in the gap by producing an arc discharge between the electrodes (e.g. 5-20A for 0.1-10 secs). The inert gas may be argon, krypton or helium at a pressure of 80-500 millibars at room temperature.
