A PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF VANADIUM PENTAOXIDE FROM VANADIUM BEARING SLUDGE OF ALUMINA INDUSTRY

A process for the preparation of vanadium pentoxide from vanadium bearing sludge of alumina industry characterised in that the sludge is treated with a hot-aqueous solution containing calcium chloride and hydrochloric acid to get a vanadium-rich liquor which is subsequently treated with ammonium chloride to precipitate ammonium vanadate which is then thermally decomposed to pure vanadium pentoxide.
