The arrangement is for constructing a dam wall by digging a trench (2), which is filled with e.g. bentonite during digging, after which prefabricated reinforced concrete beams (1) are placed in the trench and secured by introducing e.g. concrete (in 5). The H-section reinforced and/or pre-stressed beams are placed with their parallel sides along the trench side walls and their ends connected by liquid-tight flexible couplings (4) extending over the full length of the beams. A reinforcing network (6) is placed in the space (5) formed by two adjoining beams and this space then filled with concrete.
