The equipment supports a person, particularly an invalid, in the sitting position, having a rigid leg support and a backrest. It has a rigid ring (1) fitting round the body of the person and supporting the rigid backrest (2), while two opposite stirrup- shaped leg supports (9) can be fixed to the ring. Each leg support can comprise a plate bent into a trough shape (10,10') and secured to a supporting bar. The latter ends in an eye (11), fitting over a boss (8) extending towards the backrest and joined to the ring. Bosses and eyes can be of mating polygonal cross-section.
