The device has an elongated scraping element 17, which is arranged to be able to placed in leaning position against a heap 2 so as to scrape down material from this to the ground. In its lower part, the scraping element is rotatably attached to a carriage 12, which is movable along the base of the heap. At the upper end, the scraping element is displaceable along a guide bar 18, which is stationary with respect to the direction of travel of the carriage and, in addition, the carriage is displaceable towards and away from the heap so as to impart feed motion to the scraping element. On the middle of the guide bar, this has an elevated section 18a. Whenever the carriage moves along the heap, the scraping element is carried along whilst being simultaneously displaced along the guide bar, the scraping element, with the passage of the upwardly curved section of the guide bar, being made to lean towards this section. The achieved effect is that the scraping element is given maximum bearing contact against the heap, even in outer positions of the carriage. IMAGE
