The ski brake is formed as a two armed lever with its swivel axis extending on the ski upper surface transverse to the length of the ski. There is a first arm which is divided forming brake prongs located on either side of the ski. The second arm is under tension from the ski boot. It is also under spring pressure with one end of the coupling firmly fixed to the ski at a distance to the swivel axis, with the other end with that lever arm under tension from the ski boot being connected to an adjustable yoke which stands under tension from at least one spring which tends to hold it in a border position away from the axis. The ski stopping brake also includes a connection which is only intentionally detachable within the kinematic chain containing the spring between a base plate to be fixed to the ski and the arm under tension from the skiboot.
