Bactericide, fungicide and herbicide 1,3,4-thiadiazole deriv. - prepd. by reaction of a 2-halo-1,3,4-thiadiazole with a 1,2,4-oxadiazolidine-3,5-di:one alkali salt
New 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivs. are cpds. of formula (I): (where R1 is alkyl, haloalkyl, cycloalkyl, opt. substd. aryl or aralkyl, or a gp. SR3, -SOr3 or -SO2R3; R2 is alkyl or cycloalkyl; and R3 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, opt. substd. aryl or aralkyl). (I) have microbicidal properties and can be used as plant bactericides against infections of plants due to Pseudomonadaceae, Rhizobiaceae, Enterobactriaceae, Corynebacteriaceae and Streptomycetaceae. (I) are partic. useful against Xanthomonas oryzae on rice. (I) also show activity against fungal disease of cereals, esp. cereal rust. At certain rates of application, (I) also display herbicidal activity.
