Moulding sand regeneration - in vibrating tank with screens, air sifting, fluidised bed and coolant spiral cooling

Moulding sand in foundries is regenerated in a tank where the sand clods are broken up on an inverted come which is vibrated by an unbalanced mass. The sand grains have to move in a zigzag path under the constant action of vibration and are sifted in counterflow by an air stream. The sand is finally cooled in a fluidised bed and by a coolant coil in the tank bottom. This reconditions used moulding sand to the specification of new quartz sand and makes it re-usable for moulds and cores. One single unit comprises all necessary process stages for the recovery.
