The arrangement is intended for demonstrating or measuring the differences of the inertia of different inertial masses. A mass is set in motion using a known force and, when it comes to rest, the distance travelled or the time taken for this travel is measured. The mass may travel in a straight line on a carriage on rails, or may be moved by rotation in a suitable container. The container may be set in the rotational motion via a drive shaft with one-way coupling. Motion may be imparted by an electrical or mechanical drive, applying a known force during a preset time.
