The telescopic wing is basically of conventional construction. However, the inner wing portion (2), over which the outer wing (5) slides has its trailing edge flap assembly (3) on a structural component (4) mounted on longitudinal guideways, allowing it to be withdrawn into the wing from its working position. This is done before the outer wing, with fixed trailing edge flaps (6), is pushed inwards. Both operations can be carried out either mechanically, pneumatically or hydraulically.
