Double bladed oscillating saw - has semi-circular blades operated by pneumatic actuators working in unison

The saw produces a cut as smooth as that produced by a conventional circular saw but is less dangerous to handle has two semi-circular blades (28,30) mounted on a common spindle. Each blade (28) or (30) is connected by a crank (38) and connecting rod (42) to its own pneumatic actuator (44,48). The actuators are controlled by valves driven from a common motor so that the saw blades oscillate at the same frequency but in opposite directions. The teeth of each blade are set in mutually opposite ways. The mechanism is enclosed in a housing (12) with the blades projecting through a small slot.
