The wide-necked (2) plastics container (1) is provided with a cover (7) having a number of circumferentially spaced outward projections (13). The cover contains an internal annular groove (10) which fits over a seal ring (9) on the rim (11) of the neck, and is secured by a clamp ring (19). The neck (2) is provided with a contoured outer collar (3) which has an upwardly open annular groove (4) to receive a downward extending flange rim (6) of the cover, and further has a downwardly extending annular ridge (5) for engagement by snap-in portions (20) on the inside of the projections (13). A further seal ring (8) may be arranged in the groove (4).
