The plastic screw cap has an annular internal sealing strip (4) attached to the top of the cap which has a thicker section (5) at its free end and a projecting internal ring (6) nearer the center of the cap. When the cap is screwed on to the bottle neck the sealing strip fits between its external thread and the internal thread (2, 3) on the cap and over the top of the bottle, so that the thicker section is held between the ring and the internal surface of the bottle neck.
