Testing system for engine fuel mixture regulation - monitors air-fuel ratio and concn. of toxic exhaust fumes for emission control

The testing system monitors the exhaust gases to plot the variations in the ratio of air and the concn. of the exhaust fumes over a given time interval. The times during which the air ratio is outside a given range are determined and the corresponding exhaust fume concentrations are summed. Pref. the probes (2,3,4) for monitoring the levels of the respective toxic emissions are activated by a signal from a device (1) which detects whenever the air ratio lies outside the required range. The outputs of these probes (2,3,4), together with a timer (5) are coupled to a multiplier (7), followed by an adder (8) and an output device. Each sensor (2,3,4) is pref. coupled to the multiplier via a mean value stage (6).
