Overload protection system for vehicle lifting platform - uses load measuring devices connected to adder and equaliser stages to give alarm

The lifting platform for motor vehicle repair and inspection, has two parallel arms each with a support member which can slide outwards or inwards. Incorporated in each support member, or mounted underneath it, is a load measuring device which gives signals for an overload protection system. When an excess load is aoplied, a warning and/or a braking device is operated. The load measuring devices are connected to an adding stage to operate an indicator. The adding stage can be followed by an equaliser which supplies a singal proportional to the permissible loading to a memory. The system can use a double adding arrangement using comparators and adjustable potentiometers.
