摘要
The two gases are fed separately through the nozzle of a welding gun, the argon flowing through an annular tube surrounding a tube through which the electrode wire travels. Tube is surrounded by an outer nozzle forming a ring cavity through which CO2 flows to surround the Ar just above the welding zone. The ratio of CO2:Ar is pref. between 1:1 and 10:1, esp. using 6-7:1, or CO2 contg. 10-50% argon. The pref. gun nozzle contains two axial tubes used for the feeding of the electrode wire and the Ar. Similar conventional practice uses Ar and CO2 which are mixed together before being fed to the gun; and conventional mixts. contain up to 80% Ar, which is a very expensive gas. The invention eliminates mixing the gases outside the tube, and greatly reduces the amt. of Ar required, thus reducing cost.
