Rubber sealing ring between pipe ends - has protrusion fitting over step on male pipe end

The sealing ring, of rubber or similar elastic material, is for use between pipe ends fitting one inside the other. The male end has a peripheral step formed by reducing the external diameter, while a mating internal step is formed inside the female end. The outer diameter of the male end is less than the internal diameter of the widened female one. The ring (1) has a nose-shaped protrusion (2), whose distance (A) from the lower face (3) of the ring is equal to half the difference between the full-and reduced diameter portions of the male end. Thus when the ring is slid over the reduced- diameter portion, the protrusion fits over the step.
