Pulsed welding system - using auxiliary pulse for resistance measurement and welding energy adjustment

A pulsed welding process is based on an auxiliary pulse which precedes the main welding pulse. This auxiliary pulse is used to measure the electrical resistance in the welding zone so that the energy for the welding pulse can be adjusted to suit the measured resistance. A second auxiliary pulse can precede or follow the first so that the heat dissipation can be determined as a basis for adjusting the welding pulse energy. The result is a better reproducibility of the spot to be welded.
