The method involves producing ultrasonic pulses, which have a transverse polarized portion. The ultrasonic pulses of the spotweld (2) are examined by means of electrical resistance welding with the ultrasonic pulses received. The change of the transmission of the transverse polarized portion of the pulses is temporally recorded during the production of the spotweld, which can be examined.
