The hydrostatic levelling device is suitable for man operation and has a long liquid filled tube with transparent ends enabling the liquid level in both ends to be equalised for levelling purposes. A transparent container (10) with stationary fixing attachments (15,16,19) is attached to one end of the hose (12) so that its inside communicates with the hose. The container (10) has scale divisions (23) on one side for visual water level monitoring. The free end (12,13) of the hose also has markings for level observation. The container has a sealable ventilation opening and a closeable hose connection. The ventilation opening consists of a lateral hole in the cap (14) which is exposed when the cap is partially unscrewed.
