Roof rafter foot and purlin joint - has doubly bent metal plate corners supported on purlin and engaging rafter slot

The system connects the foot of a rafter and a purlin which has one side lying against the underside of that rafter. It is used in building roof construction. A metal base plate (3), bent back at right angles opposite ways on opposite side, fits against the underside of the rafter (1), with one bend supported on the purlin (2) and the other engaging a slot in the rafter. It has a screw or nail (4) joining it to the rafter; and additional fixture media (5) connect rafter and purlin together.
