The device is for lifting a wheel of a heavy motor vehicle. It uses a jack, positioned next to the wheel, which is engaged by a hoisting device whose other end engages releasably the wheel via arms. At the bottom end, the lifting device has a horizontal arm (4), at whose ends are two bottom support arms (5) for the wheel (7) at the sides. Chains (8) are fitted at the ends of the horizontal arm in key-shaped holding holes (6). The other ends engage in corresponding key-shaped holes of a counterarm. There is a vertical fitting arm (2) for the outside of the wheel on the horizontal arm.
