Based on the program code for the numerical simulation of the clock mechanism, a theoretical analysis of some characteristics of the arming process of the safety and arming device depending on pallet and escape wheel inertia was conducted. The specific effects of the mass and angular momentum of inertia of the rotor and pallet on the mechanism arming time and number of revolutions until arming were clarified. It was shown that the clock mechanism it-self regulates the rotor spin motion until arming. The preliminary experimental tests confirmed the theory and functional performances of real mechanism designs.
