The radiation emitting device (10) such as a scanning telescope or laser mounted on a craft or vehicle is supported between arms on a rotary base (13) below which is housed a testing device (21). The base is mounted around a cylinder (17) with its axis (a) in line with tne axis of the cylindrical housing of the emitting device when the latter is swung upwards, so as to fit against its moutn. This cylinder screws into a chamber (16) projecting downwards from a carrier surface (11) on which the rotary base is mounted. The flanged mouth of the cylinder carries a multiple leaf iris shutter, above which is a region (20) from which cleaning fluid can be directed upwards onto the emitting device. The bottom of the cylinder carries a lens (22) below which is the test device (21), and can be rotated by a motor (18) positioned on the wall of the chamber (16).
