Fabric assembly - of highly stitched fabric layers, entrapping air pockets

In the prodn. of fabric for garments, two layers of fabric are stitched together with a high number of stitches so as to entrap an insulating layer of air between the two fabric layers. The stitching is of the order of 10,000-20,000 stitches per square metre, and the space between the stitches is about 0.7 cm. The closeness of stitches forms a firm assembly, with no bulges or folds, which can be easily washed and ironed. The prod. may be used to make tee-shirts and underwear, and offers efficient thermal insulation.
