Folding machine for drawings and plans - uses pulse generator and pulse counter actuated by trailing edge of sheet detector and memory for storing folding format data

The machine allows the type of folding to be changed instantly from one type to another and provides correction to a precise format. The introduction of the material to be folded is detected, pref. by a photoelectric cell operated by a light beam whose interruption initiates a machine cut-out for a period greater than that of one folding operation. The trailing paper edge is also detected providing control of a counter fed from a pulse generator. The counter output is processed and determines, via logic circuitry, a multi-address numeric memory and a selector, the position and number of folds. A comparator matches the number of folds against that required and the memory store content. An error correcting value can be added to that introduced in the memory as data corresponding to each format. This same value can be added to a manual counter.
