Sheet length measuring device for printing machine transport mechanism - has leading and trailing edge sensors, and counts rotation transducer pulses between edge signals

The device includes a gear wheel transmission coupling the parts of the transport mechanism. A sheet length dependent controller drives the printing machine and a number of associated actuators. Contactless sheet sensors (10) at defined monitoring points are directed at the trailing and leading edges of the sheet (1). The controller (9) is connected to the sensors and to a transducer (7) sensing the printer rotation angle and counts the transducer pulses occurring between leading and trailing edge signals. ADVANTAGE - Enables contactless measurement of lengths of transported sheets in printing press.
